Waikiwi Farm is located one hours drive south of Auckland, New Zealand. It is a flat to rolling grassland property consisting of four main soil types. Careful consideration is taken to manage the natural resource acknowledging sustainability of the asset, and its people.
Waikiwi Farm derives income from four distinct income streams which includes maize silage sold on contract, lamb & beef finishing, and contract dairy grazing. The various enterprises have been utilised as the best land use for the soil type, as well as mitigating market risk. The goal is to maximise the best net return per hectare, whilst retaining soil health.
Waikiwi Farm is currently managed by David & Lyndi Jefferis. They are fortunate to enjoy the services of Craig Pallister as stock manager. David's father Bob lives on farm, and is a valuable member of the team. Occasional farm help is enjoyed by secondary school and university students, as part of their training. Various agricultural contractors are utilised to assist in all areas of the farm. Benchmarking performance is a key part of the farming business, managed with external professionals.
