The Jefferis family originated from the Otago region in the South Island of New Zealand before moving north to the Waikato in 1875. The family settled in Waerenga and developed the property from native scrub and bush into grassland. Sheep and beef farming was the main income stream up until the early 1980's when it was converted to bull beef finishing. The current management structure commenced in 2001.
Waikiwi Farm has been fortunate to increase in size as neighbouring properties have been offered for sale, the last acquisition being 2013. David is the fourth generation actively farming on Waikiwi. Previous generations of the Jefferis family have all been "hands on" farmers, adding value to the farm with development, fertiliser, strategic planting, and livestock best practice. Waikiwi Farm is a reflection of the families' core values of progressive land stewardship, and to present the property in the best position to enjoy sustainable profits.
